With the recent surge in popularity of Artificial Intelligence applications and chatbots from companies like Microsoft and OpenAI, corporations in every sector are quickly integrating these tools into their businesses. Whether utilized for reconciling balance sheets or to improve software interfacing, AI has become an integral part of our lives and the firms with which we do business.

One such tool is Trimble’s addition to their ProjectSight software: Charlie. An AI assistant built into ProjectSight, Charlie is Trimble’s effective solution for troubleshooting. No longer are the days of accessing massive resource databases and combing through rows of instructions for an answer to a detailed, nuanced question. Instead, users can enjoy expedited answers to their questions from a chat bot. Similar in design and functionality to popular AI chat bot softwares, Charlie is a powerful tool within ProjectSight. All that is required to utilize its services is a prompting question.

For example, I could be a general contractor wanting to create a subcontract change order based on a previously created potential change order. It is my first time performing such a task and I want to confirm that my process is the most efficient and accurate method for myself, my team, and my customers. Prior to the creation of Charlie, I would have answered my question by accessing ProjectSight’s Resource Center.

Though packed with helpful guides like Training, Release Notes, Resources, and Contact Support, the sheer amount of product information placed the onus on me to commit time and resources to finding the answer to my question. With ProjectSight’s Charlie AI Assistant, I am able to circumvent that entire process and receive only the information necessary to perform my task. To access Charlie’s services, I simply click the small blue chat icon on my screen and type into the text chain my question: “How do I create a subcontract change order from a potential change order?”

Whereas before I had to perform my own search and my answer after laborious work and a few uses of the CTRL+F, now I have the information clearly presented to me in the chat log.

Within seconds, I have procured information it may have taken multiple minutes for me to secure. Extrapolate that process across the entire life cycle of a project, and Charlie will save you and your company scores of time and resources. If you wish to remove the chat bot icon from your screen, click into your project’s settings gearbox and under “AI Assistant” you can uncheck Charlie.
